Letting go requires more strength than holding on.
We often have a negative preconceived notion of what it means to “let go”. Upon hearing this term, most of us associate it with:
- Giving up
- Being weak
- Surrendering and waving the red flag
But there is beauty and strength in allowing ourselves to let go of things, people, places and situations that no longer serve us.
It does not mean “giving up”. It means moving on and looking for another way to fix a specific situation because the old approach just isn’t working.
It does not mean “being weak,” because an insurmountable amount of strength is needed to let go of those things that no longer fit our life.
It does not mean that you are “surrendering and waving the red flag”, but rather taking a leap of faith and trusting that you’ve reached a point in your life where change is needed.
Life is all about continuous change. Embrace it and courageously let go of anything that has already served its purpose.
Know that some people will only stick around for a season regardless of how hard you try to keep them in your life.
Embrace the large imprint that these people, places and things have left in your heart and wish them well. After all, we are all here just trying to find ourselves, trying to wing it.
In the process of letting go, you will lose many things from the past, but you will find yourself.
